Description of a private tour
Private tour guarantees an intimate and personalized experience, allowing you to soak in the breathtaking landscapes and historical landmarks at your own pace.
Let us guide you through the stories told by sea, stones and walls. After boarding in the old town of Kotor, we cruise to the magical city of Perast! Here, the wealth of local tradition and history is reflected in every step.
Nestled by the Bay of Kotor, Old town of Perast in Montenegro is a hidden treasure ready to be discovered. Every alley, house or stone in this small city has its own story and history.
Perast is colorful and photogenic, ideal for creating memories and photos.
Our first stop on this adventure is a small island in the middle of the Bay of Kotor, named after the church on it – Our Lady of Rocks. According to the story, after the shipwreck, sailors found an icon of the Mother of God. The local fishermen made a pledge to create an artificial island by throwing stones at the same place where the Blessed Virgin was found, on which a church will later be built in her honor.
By the way, this custom of piling stones (known as Fašinada) around our Lady of Rocks has grown over time into a traditional ceremony that has been continuously held every July 22 for more than 500 years!
We stay on the island of Gospa od Škrpjela for about 20 minutes. Then, it’s time to land in Perast and have a 30-minute tour.
The city was named after the Illyrian tribe Pirusti, which inhabited the area of present-day Perast in the 3rd century. At that time, Illyrian queen Teuta ruled Boka Kotorska. Teuta was conquered by the Romans who populated Perast as well as the rest of the Adriatic coast.
After the Romans, Perast was ruled by the Republic of Dubrovnik, the Republic of Venice, France, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, Yugoslavia and now Montenegro.
The natural island of St. George – often referred to as the “Island of Flowers – dates back to ancient times, has a rich history, and its beauty will leave you breathles.
